How can you repair credit that has always been excellent but due to market conditions had 1 pmt exceed 30days?
We recently relocated and during the past year have been carrying two mortgages. We did so well at maintaining both homes during this crazy market but did have one month when we just couldn’t make both payments. We did make both payments and paid all late fees the following month and continued to make both payments on time until one of the homes finally sold. Can you beg forgiveness on your credit report? I had no idea how negatively this would affect our credit. We have always (for the past 15+) years had excellent credit. Do we really have to wait 7 years for this one mistake to go away?
It will diminish over time you could ask your lender not to report the 30 days but they have agreed to report the truth to the agencies.
