I am going to a private university that sadly does not offer assistantships in order to obtain my Masters in Teaching. I currently have a very bad paying job, and I live in a pretty expensive city. I understand that grants are not offered for graduate students; however, I am trying to figure out if I can take out an extra loan to help cover the cost of the extra $300/month housing / rental costs. With the subsidized and unsubsidized loans, can I get more money to help pay for the costs of living?
I know it’s not advised because my loan would be much bigger; however, living with my parents is not an option, and I don’t know how good living out of my car would work.
I understand I can take out loans for grad school, but can I take out EXTRA loans specifically for the cost of living?

Yes, you can take out loans in grad school and defer whatever loans you currently have.

I i were u i would go talk to a lender and they can answer all your questions. I know that wells fargo has a great loan percentage rate for students. Just go in and tell them that you would like to inquire about a student loan and the lenders should be able to explain everything you need to know.
