How do you fix your credit score?
I am trying to refinance my house while the rates are low. I was shocked when I found out how low my credit score was due to a delinquent account that is actually not delinquent. Besides disputing this, which could take up to 30 days, what else could I do to fix my credit score.
I pay my bills on time in full every month. Is it true that keeping a low balance on your credit card will raise your score?

You need to make sure that you pay all of your bills on time every month. Next, if you have credit cards, you need to make sure that the most that you are using of your available credit is less than 20%. Check your credit report for any inaccuracies and get them fixed.

How to fix credit score?
I owe approximately $10000. $5000 of that debt is for credit cards. I was unemployed for 5 months and unable to pay any of my bills/payments. Now i do have a job but only make enough to get by, i also go to school so can’t work longer hours. My questions are these: 1)Do i have to pay off old debt in order to fix my credit? Or can i just start paying on time from now on? 2)If i have to pay old debt, I can’t right now. So, should i file for bankruptcy and is it worth it for $10k? I could work out a settlement but I ‘ve heard that i would have to pay in full the amount i settle for with creditors/collections and i have no money right now to pay (i could do payments though). 3)Should i consult a lawyer to help me with my situation or can i fix my credit score myself?
